Rubbish Service

The Village contracts with Republic Services to collect residential trash. Trash is collected on Mondays of each week, unless that day is a holiday and then it will be collected on Tuesday. Residents are asked to have their trash at the curb by 5:00 pm on the day before pickup. Please remove empty containers from the street as soon as possible. For larger items, such as sofas and recliners, call Republic Services in advance so they will be prepared to pick up these items at 216-441-6300. Air conditioners, refrigerators and other appliances containing Freon should be removed by a certified technician. The technician attaches a sticker to the appliance acknowledging removal of the Freon. The appliance can then be placed at the curb for pickup. For more information, please call 440-232-8788.

 

Senior Citizen Snow Plowing

During the winter months, when the snow exceeds 2" within a 24 hour period, the Village provides free snowplowing service for senior citizens and disabled residents. To apply for this program, please click here for the application. Complete the application and mail or drop it off to Village Hall.

Senior Van

Transportation service is available to senior residents of the Village of Glenwillow through Valley Senior Transportation Service.   To register for this service, please call the City of Solon Department of Senior Services at 440-349-6363.

• Transportation is available on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with pick-up times between 8:30AM to 3:15 PM.  Travel may be to locations in Cuyahoga and limited locations in Lake, Geauga and Summit Counties.

Costs are:

• No charge for transportation with the resident's own municipality.
• For distances less than ten (10) miles, $2.00 each way.
• For distances greater than ten (10) miles, $3.00 each way.

• Transportation is available for medical appointments, routine errands, recreation, religious and social events.  No transportation will be provided following surgical procedures.
• Reservations for van services may be made by contacting the Solon Senior Center at 440-349-6363, Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.  Calls received during the hours of  8:30 AM and 11:30 AM will be taken via voicemail and a staff member will return the call within 24 hours to confirm availability.  The name of the rider, date and time of travel, as well as the address and phone number of the destination are required to schedule a trip. 
• Reservations for trips to medical appointments begin on the 1st of the month for the following month. (July 1st for August appointments).
• Other trips will begin every Monday at 8:30 AM for the following week.
• The van driver is not permitted to cross the threshold of the resident's home.  If assistance is needed entering or exiting the van, one adult companion may accompany the rider and will be charged at the same rate as the rider.

The driver will assist with taking up to four (4) bags to the door, but may not carry packages into the house.

 

Lifeline

The Village of Glenwillow has entered into an agreement with Lifeline Systems Company to provide personal response support service and an alert system for aged or ill residents by electronically notifying trained personnel to respond in the event of a home emergency.

The Village of Glenwillow will pay Lifeline to provide up to 15 Lifeline programs for our residents to be the most in need of such services as determined by the local administrator of Lifeline.

Residents who use this program wear a small alert as a necklace or bracelet.  If an emergency occurs, the resident presses the alarm and the company is automatically alerted.  They will check to see if the resident is OK or if they need emergency services.  They will also contact the nearest relative to inform them of the emergency.

Animal Warden Support

Steve Suder and Scott Adams of A & S Animal Control are temporarily providing Animal Control Services to the Village . The duties of the Animal Warden is to catch wild animals running at large and to impound them. If you are having a problem with a wild animal, please call the Police Department at 440-232-8787 to request this service, the Solon non-emergency dispatch at 440-249-1234.

 

Bow Hunting for Village Residents

The Village allows bow hunting of deer within the corporate limits with permission of the property owner. All hunters must first register with the Village Police Department. Please call 440-232-8788 for more information.

 

Notary Services

Notary service is available free of charge at Village Hall for residents during regular business hours or by appointment. Please bring ID when requesting Notary services. For more information, please call 440-232-8788.

 

Residential Knox Box Program

Oakwod Village Fire Department and the Village are offering a Knox Box Program.  The program entails the provision of a metal box that is secured with a key lock.  Oakwood Fire Department maintains the only key to the Knox Box which opens the secure box which contains the key for the entrance door. to your residence.  Un-Needed Prescription Drug Drop-Off

As required by our National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit from the state of Ohio, there has been a Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products reduction program developed.  This is to reduce the amount prescription drugs from entering the creeks, rivers and the lake by establishing a collection point for the treament plant's service area.  There has been a collection point set up in the Bedford Heights Police lobby.   This is an old mail box painted white, locked and monitored by the police.  All residents in the Village of Glenwillow may dispose of any unused, outdated, or unwanted drugs in the collection box in lieu of flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the garbage.  The address for drop off is: 5661 Perkins Rd. CONNECT 4 SENIORS CHORE REFERRAL PROGRAM

This program provides referrals for dependable paid workers.  You will be provided with up to 3 separate referrals for the type of assistance you are requesting, ie. carpentry, handyman, painting, and more.  Your referrals will have had reference checks completed by our volunteers and staff.  You may then contact the referrals to discuss your needs.  You decide and hire whomever you choose.  The Chore Referral Volunteers will continue ongoing reference checks, by following up with you and ohters who have utilized the Connect 4 Seniors Chore Referral Program.  They will find out if the job was completed and if the outcome was acceptable.  Please call the Solon Senior Center at 440-349-6363 for referrals.
